Marissa LaBant currently serves as the Director of Education & Events at PMEA, assisting with the coordination of multiple aspects of the annual and summer conferences, professional development, as well as District, Region and All State festivals. Prior to her role with PMEA, Marissa has worked within education for the past decade, serving in various administrative roles within Penn State University, The Peabody Institute and the University of Northern Colorado.
Forever an advocate and friend of music and the arts, Marissa strives to not only keep playing music until her 90’s, but to continue to utilize it as a tool to connect with people, no matter the location. Music has allowed her to forge connections in the most unlikely of places (ask her about being on the security team for an indie rock music festival in Reykjavík, Iceland!). An avid adventurer and aspiring yogini, Marissa enjoys hiking, practicing different types of yoga and traveling. She holds music performance degrees in flute from the Peabody Institute and NYU, and enjoys playing music wherever and whenever she is able to do-so!
