To educate parents on the benefits of school music programs and encourage student participation and retention, the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has introduced this new (and free!) resource: The New Music Parent course, located in the NFHS Learning Center.
Approximately 50 percent of students who begin playing a musical instrument between fourth and sixth grades are no longer playing after one year. The New Music Parent was created to help combat this significant student attrition rate while explaining and promoting the numerous benefits associated with music participation, including better grades and test scores, strong work ethic and enhanced spatial intelligence and problem-solving skills.
We encourage you to check it out and share it with your new music parents!
