Pre-k to 8th Grade General Music at Newtown Friends School

Founded in 1948, Newtown Friends School is a prekindergarten through 8th grade Quaker day school in Newtown, Pennsylvania, located 30 miles northeast of Philadelphia. PreK-8 General Music Teacher

Newtown Friends School is seeking dynamic candidates for a full time PreK – 8 general music teacher. Applicants should have at least two years of relevant teaching experience. This position plays a pivotal role in introducing students to the joys of music and cultivating their musical abilities. You will design and deliver engaging music lessons that align with our IB Primary Years curriculum and encourage creativity and self-expression. Creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere where students can explore various aspects of music, develop their skills, and appreciate different genres, multicultural perspectives, and appreciate musical traditions from diverse communities is central to your responsibilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and producing individual or dual grade performances for grades K-6, and being involved in musical or theatrical productions in grades 7 and 8.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Music education. An advanced degree is strongly desired. The successful candidate will be piano and vocal proficient and have excellent rapport with and knowledge of varying age groups. We seek candidates with a deep knowledge of early childhood development and who have experience in providing students active, hands-on experiences. They should have an interest in supporting students’ development of the necessary academic, social, and attitudinal skills to achieve 21st-Century leadership. Candidates should be ready to engage in helping the school to achieve its goal of being an anti-racist institution with broad DEIJB goals. Familiarity with Quaker education and the ability to coach is a plus.

Permanent contract position for the 2024-2025 school year. The Waynesboro Area School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Instrumental Music Teacher & Band Director.

PA Music Education K-12 certification and degree major in instrumental music required. Ability to teach lessons in small groups as well as conduct large ensembles is required. Ability to inspire and motivate students to perform their best in band and in their academic courses required. Prepares effective lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differentiation as needed. Ability to incorporate technology into the music curriculum required.

School based experience teaching Middle School concert and jazz band preferred. Performances include 6th grade concert band, 7th and 8th grade concert and jazz band, Holiday, Spring, and “Music in Our Schools” concerts. The Middle School Band Director also serves as the Assistant Director for the High School Band during the marching band season.

Now Hiring: Artistic Director for the Cumberland Singers

The Cumberland Singers is currently seeking an Artistic Director. The ideal candidate for this part-time position will be an experienced musician with a background in choral conducting and a genuine commitment to fostering musical excellence and community engagement.
The Cumberland Singers is a non-profit community choir dedicated to bringing the joy of music to the local area. It is composed of members from various backgrounds and levels of musical experience, who come together to create beautiful harmonies and foster a sense of camaraderie through music. The group has performed throughout Central Pennsylvania since 1976, and recently transitioned to an all-treble voice ensemble with approximately 30-40 members each season. A basic audition with the director is required to become a member.

Responsibilities
Lead weekly rehearsals, guiding members in vocal technique, musical interpretation, and ensemble performance
Select repertoire that is diverse, engaging, and appropriate for the choir’s skill level and interests
Prepare the choir for performances and other public engagements, including but not limited to: concerts, community events, and collaborations with local artists and organizations
Foster a supportive and inclusive rehearsal environment that encourages participation, collaboration, and personal growth among choir members
Collaborate with the choir’s board of directors to develop and implement artistic goals, concert programming, and long-term strategies for the choir’s growth and development
Serve as a positive and professional ambassador for the Cumberland Singers within the local community, building relationships with community members, other arts leaders, stakeholders, and potential supporters
Additional responsibilities as necessary and commensurate with experience

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in music, choral conducting, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent training and experience
Experience conducting choral ensembles of varying sizes and skill levels
Knowledge of vocal technique, music theory, and choral repertoire across different genres and styles
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse groups of individuals
Flexibility, creativity, and adaptability in response to the evolving needs and dynamics of the choir and the community

Schedule & Compensation
Rehearsals are held weekly on Tuesday evenings in Mechanicsburg from September-December and January-April.
A concert series of approximately three concerts are performed in December and April.
Compensation is negotiable and is based on education and experience starting at $1,800 per season. Compensation is paid monthly on a pro-rata basis for rehearsals and concerts.

Gettysburg Children’s Choir – Artistic Director

Gettysburg Children’s Choir seeks to appoint an inspiring mentor to our talented singers in grades three through twelve to serve as its next Artistic Director. Founded in 1999, Gettysburg Children’s Choir and Chamber Chorale have been treasured contributors to the rich musical landscape of south-central Pennsylvania. Their artistry has recently been showcased state-wide through conference performances for both the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association of Pennsylvania. The board seeks an engaging, caring, and dynamic conductor-teacher to continue the high level of excellence of these singers.

Position Details
-Part-time appointment, approximately 5-10 hours per week.
-Each choir rehearses for 90 minutes once a week from late August to early May
-Includes planning an optional summer educational program through Adams County Arts Council
-Supported by a choir manager who handles administrative duties: communications, scheduling, parent relations, and social media
-Supervises and is supported by interns from Gettysburg College
-Collaborates with a staff accompanist for rehearsals and performances
-Salary: $6,000-$8,000

Candidate Qualifications
-Possess a Bachelor’s level or higher degree in music, preferably music education
-Have previous experience working with choirs in grades 3-12
-Be committed to serving as a community leader for children through performances

Lower School General Music Teacher

Lancaster Country Day School seeks an experienced music teacher for full-time employment starting in the 2023-24 School Year. We are looking for an educator with a strong knowledge and ability to teach in all areas of music. Classroom experience in music education is preferred, preferably in an independent school setting.

Establish a culture of high expectations within a supportive environment for all students.
Assess students regularly through both formative and summative assessments, ensuring ongoing constructive feedback to students and their families.
Use the School’s learning management system, Canvas, to communicate with students and their families to provide needed information on classroom work and student progress, and contact families through direct communications via phone or email when appropriate.
Reflect on student performance and feedback to refine classroom activities and methods of leading music instruction.
Work closely with other faculty members of the Performing Arts department and with colleagues school-wide to improve instructional practices and share best practices.
Collaborate with and adhere to the recommendations of the School’s learning specialists.
Demonstrate clear concern for each student as a learner and scaffold instruction in a way that encourages students to reach their potential.
Participate actively in professional development activities.
Demonstrate commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion when making curricular and repertoire choices.
Contribute to sustaining an inclusive and equitable learning environment for our School community.
Participate actively in area music organizations, such as LLMEA, PMEA, NAFME, etc.
Perform other related duties as required.
