Mark your calendars for the 2013 PMEA Summer Conference, to be held Monday, July 22 and Tuesday, July 23 at the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel in State College. The $50 registration fee covers Monday lunch and dinner, Tuesday breakfast, all breaks and session. Attendees are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements. This is event will be here before you know it and is a great professional development opportunity, only available to PMEA members. 12 hours of Act 48 credit will be available. Registration is available online (via the Online Event Registration menu option) or via the 2013 PMEA Summer Conference Registration Form.

Rooms are available at the Penn Stater at the rate of $112 for a single or double room. Reservations can be made by calling 800-233-7505 by June 21 or until the hotel is sold out. Be sure to specify the PMEA reservation code: PAMG13A.

Calling All Golfers!

PMEA’s 6^th annual golf outing will be held on Sunday, July 21 at 3:00 p.m. at the Mountain View Country Club, formerly the Elks Club (100 Elks Club Road, Boalsburg, PA). The cost will be $60 and includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart and a light dinner. Please indicate your attendance via the summer conference registration form or by emailing Abi Young (abiyoung@pmea.net).

Did you enjoy what you saw in Erie this past year? Are there things you would like to see offered at future conferences? Help PMEA set the course for Hershey by joining one of the 2014 conference commmittees. Although preliminary plans for the 2014 spring conference are underway, your additional ideas and assistance will help make the 2014 conference successful. Volunteers are needed for both the session selection and listening committees. The session selection committee will evaluate session proposals and recommend possible clinicians. The listening committee will evaluate recordings of potential performing groups and recommend ensembles for the conference. Both committees will be meeting on Tuesday, July  at the Penn Stater Conference Center at the conclusion of the 2013 summer conference. The listening committee will meet at 1:30 p.m. and the session selection committee will meet at 2:00 p.m. Members of all PMEA councils are requested to participate in conference planning. Lunch will be provided for all planning committee members who are also attending the summer conference.  2014 PMEA Performing Group and Session Proposal Information

Interested in participating in next year’s annual conference in Hershey? PMEA is now accepting performing group applications and session proposals for its 2014 Annual In-service Conference, March 27-29 at the Hershey Lodge and Convention Center.

Performing Group Application Information

New this year – we are offering directors the opportunity to save time and postage by electronically submitting their performing group recording and application via the online program Acceptd (https://app.getacceptd.com/pmea). Your submission can be worked on anywhere you have internet access and allows you to upload your audio submissions directly into the Acceptd program; no need to burn a cd or make a trip to the post office.  For those unable to submit electronically, a hard copy cd or dvd may be submitted along with completion of the Online Performing Group Application (http://pmea.wufoo.com/forms/performing-group-application/). The fee to apply is $15 per application (a separate application is required for one director submitting multiple ensembles). Deadline for applications is June 25, 2013 (must be postmarked by this date).

PMEA/NAfME members and PMEA Corporate Sponsor Member companies are invited to submit educational session proposals for the 2013 PMEA Annual In-service Conference, to be held March 27-29 in Hershey and/or the 2014 PMEA Summer Conference, to be held in mid-July in State College. Sessions at the Annual Conference are 1 hour in length. Summer Conference sessions vary in length, however are typically 1 ½ to 2 hours long.
