Audition
Procedures - 2005
District 4 & 6 Orchestra 2004
- All rooms must use the
ACTUAL audition number on the judges worksheet...not 1,2,3, etc.
- Make TWO sets of the
audition labels....one for the audition form, and one for the folder.
- Coordinator provides all
audition forms and assigns audition numbers to students.
- Coordinator makes the
audition assignments of directors.
- Host Region Chair meets with the students in the auditorium and reviews the
audition procedures with the
students.
- Students complete the
state participation form in the auditorium, and carry it with them to the
holding
room and the audition room.
- Students will move to the holding room with instruments, music, PMEA
audition form, and a pencil.
- All students MUST circle WILL or WILL NOT attend Region Orchestra when
they complete the PMEA
audition
form.
Everyone must decide this on Wednesday evening.
No changes in this decision are permitted.
- The Sgt.-At-Arms will have each student MARK the Beginning, Mid-point,
and End of each audition
selection, when the students arrive at
the audition room. the
Sgt.-At-Arms will put one of the prepared labels on the student’s audition
form, and one on their folder. Students
will leave their folders with the Sgt.-At-Arms following their audition.
- Sergeant at Arms should
pull the audition selections & put them on the LEFT side of the folder for
the larger
sections.
- Host
Region Chair will serve as
the audition coordinator in the auditorium, and assist with the
smooth flow of students to the audition rooms via student runners. When students finish their audition,
they are to go directly to the auditorium.
NO student, who has finished auditions, is to be in or near
the HOLDING ROOM.
-
In the HOLDING room:
Note: The holding area can be a classroom beside the audition room.
This keeps the entire section close to the auditions and eliminates a lot of running to one large area. Also, much of the confusion of a large room holding area is eliminated.
1. Students are to go DIRECTLY to the holding area for their group with their instrument,
music, and a pencil. Playing is NOT permitted in the holding area.
2. When each student finishes their audition, they are to go directly to the auditorium
NOT back into
the holding area.
- The orchestra will be
broken down into two through four equal sections on each of the computers
provided by the host. Our
scoring program is designed for FileMaker Pro 6 on both the Macintosh,
and any PC computer. This
will be completed by the WRSO Audition Chair.
- Each computer operator,
under the direction of the Audition Chair, will need a “reader” to read the
scores and
verify
the total score on the judges sheet with the computer total.
- No practicing is permitted
outside the audition rooms.
- District Presidents assist
with the tabulation and verification of results.
