District Chorus “Two Room” Pre-Audition Procedure

The District 6 Chorus Pre-Aud Policy is as follows -
Section A
"All schools for pre auditions will be given a quota of eight students. Schools will also receive one student per one hundred based on school enrollment, not to exceed 15."
Section B
"Each school will be allowed to send a MAXIMUM of three per voice part"
Section C
"Tenors and Accompanist are free and will not be counted against the
quota."

Invoices/payments should be sent to Win Garland. Just a reminder --- Cash will not be accepted. Please pay by check or purchase order. If payments are not received by the day of auditions, you may be required to write a personal check or show a copy of an approved purchase order.
Please bring the medical form and application with you the day of auditions.

Vocal Jazz selection procedures -
A committee of the following personnel shall listen to all the vocal jazz CD's only. No audiocassette tapes will be allowed. The Committee shall consist of the Jazz Coordinator, Chorus Coordinator, District President, District Vice-President, and one choral director selected collectively by the District President, District Vice-President and Jazz Coordinator.
Audition materials shall be posted after the release of the State Audition Requirements
1. All CD's will be sent to the District President postmarked by a specified date. CD's should be recorded by tracks in the order of the listed required audition pieces.
2. The committee will listen, individually or collectively to all CD's
3. A numeric value will be assigned to each of the Jazz Rubric Categories listed
(Rank and Rate)
Tone
Rhythm
Intonation
Technique
Interpretation
Improvisation (Scat)
4. Points will be totaled and the sections ranked in order.
5. The Jazz Choir voicing ideally will as follows:
24 Voices assigned as 6 sopranos, 6 altos, 6 tenors, 6 Basses
6. The Vocal Jazz Selection Committee, at their discretion, for the best interest of the ensemble, has the right to adjust the size and voicing of the ensemble.
7. Audition results shall be posted in a timely fashion.
