Festival Scholarship Information

SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA

1. ACADEMIC RECORD


2. MUSICAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS or HONORS EARNED


3. CAREER PLANS (The student should hope to continue some type of musical experience or musical study with this scholarship.)


4. RECOMMENDATION FROM THEIR SCHOOL DISTRICT MUSIC TEACHER (Band Director, Choir Director, or Orchestra Director)


5. CONSIDERATION OF THE APPLICANTıS CONTRIBUTION TO THEIR SCHOOL DISTRICT MUSIC PROGRAM

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

• Scholarship recipients must be SENIORS.


• Students can only win one (1) of the three scholarships. (They may apply for all three if eligible.)


• Students must complete the official District 4 Scholarship Application Form to be considered.


• Scholarships will be awarded at the District Festivals. (This is not a Regional Event.)

SELECTION PROCESS

• Applications will be available at the fall general membership meeting, and should also be sent to all schools participating in District 4 events by the respective Host Director.


• All completed applications must be delivered to the District President by the start of the Directorıs Meeting at the festival for which it will be awarded.


• The Selection Committee will consist of the President, an officer, and three (3) directors who do not have students being considered.


• The final three candidates for the Festival Scholarship will be announced and then interviewed by the Selection Committee.


• The Selection Committee will then meet and select the scholarship recipient. The Scholarship will be awarded at an appropriate time before the conclusion of the final concert.


• The five criteria for consideration will not be weighted in any particular manner or formula. The selection method will be determined by each selection committee.
