Juniata County
Representative to PMEA District 4 is:
Kevin Milliken of East Juniata High School.
In Juniata County, we have no new music personnel to report this year. Things are pretty much the same as they have been for the past few years. One special event worthy of noting took place on Saturday, September 4. All four of the marching bands in Juniata County took part in the parade festivities to open the 150th Juniata County Fair in Port Royal, Pa. On Wednesday, September 15, our annual Marching Band Festival and Cheerleading Exhibition was held at Deitrick Field, Mifflintown. Approximately three hundred students were involved as the East Juniata Junior High Band, Tuscarora Junior High Band, Juniata High School Band and East Juniata High School Bands performed for an exuberant crowd. All of the groups are to be congratulated for their successful performances.
All of the bands in Juniata County have been active in recent months with countless performances at sporting events, parades and festivals. The choral programs at the school are busy preparing for upcoming events, including our annual Christmas concerts. The Juniata High School Chorus will again be performing a cantata with public participation on Sunday, December 12, 2004. The ensemble will number over 100 members for this performance and it is a highlight of the season. Anyone interested in joining the choir for this event can contact Kevin Cunningham at Juniata High School. The East Juniata High School Senior and Junior High Choirs will also be performing a cantata on Sunday, December 12 at 2:30PM in the East Juniata High School auditorium. The East Juniata Jazz Ensemble as well as the East Juniata High School Concert Band will be participating in this annual event.
Respectfully submitted,
Kevin D. Milliken
Juniata County Representative
