District 4
Distinguished Service Award

PURPOSE

To recognize and honor any music educator in PMEA District 4 who has demonstrated a long term commitment to music education and exemplary service to PMEA on a local and/or state level.

ELIGIBILITY

Any retired member in District 4 is eligible for the award upon their nomination by a PMEA member. A current member with twenty or more years of service is also eligible to be nominated by a current PMEA member.

NOMINATIONS

Nominations may be submitted to the District 4 president at any time. Upon receiving the nomination for the award, the District 4 president will present the nomination to the District 4 officers and the C/I committee at the next scheduled meeting for consideration of the nominations.

FREQUENCY OF AWARD

The award will be presented to any deserving music educator upon the nomination of the candidate by PMEA and the recommendation and approval of the District 4 officers and C/I committee. There will be no limit on the frequency of presenting the award. A maximum of two awards may be presented in any given year.

PRESENTATION

Whenever possible, the award will be presented to the recipient by a District 4 officer and/or C/I committee member at a public gathering, preferably a PMEA District 4 event.
